Sydney is already one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world. English is the official language, however around 250 languages are spoken here, due to the wide range of people that have settled here from around the world. This means that you wont feel out of place, having English as a second language. Not only will you be able to experience the Australian way of life, But you will also be able to experience other cultures from all corners of the globe. Sydney welcomes international students, and you are sure to find a community that you can join in with to make the most of your time here.

To find events in your local area, try the local newspaper or websites such as timeout or sydneyweekender. You are sure to find something suitable here, in a range of categories.

3. Sydney is beautiful, relaxing and safe.
Being situated on the coastline of NSW, Sydney has stunning views of beaches and our world famous Harbour. We also have quick access to bush land (have a look at the Blue Mountains for example) and wonderful parks and natural reserves. Sydney city is busy, but not as busy as many large cities around the world. It is easy to catch public transport and head out of the CBD and enjoy what is happening in the suburbs. Sydney is quiet safe also and though it is always wise not to walk around alone at night, you will find that most people are caring and honest and you will be safe while you are here.

4. Sydney has plenty of opportunities to work and socialise.
Sydney has a thriving cafe, restaurant and retail scene. This means that there are plenty of opportunities for international students to get casual work. Remember to work within the restrictions of your visa and you will be fine. Many students get work quickly while you are here, even if you are learning English. You can start with work where you wont talk to many people, such as cleaning and washing dishes. Then once you feel more confident, you can serve customers which also helps you with your English skills. For students studying Early Childhood and Fitness, there are plenty of opportunities to gain work within these sectors and international students are welcomed.
