International students are pouring into Australia.
International student numbers have increased in Australia, with approximately 542,054 students coming in 2017. Australian universities, private colleges and English course providers, are seeing a continual increase from previous years. Statistics show interesting trends and Brazilians are standing out for interesting reasons.
The basics of Australia’s international student sector.
The number of international students enrolling into Australian courses, continues to increase. Australia is showing a strong commitment to reviewing the ways students can come to live and study in Australia. It is sector that is extremely important to Australia’s economic situation, as International students are currently bringing over $30 billion to Australia, through studying, travel and living costs.
Who is coming to Australia?
China still holds the top spot for international students, followed closely by India, Nepal, Malaysia, South Korea and Vietnam. A large rise in the amount of students from Brazil and Colombia and these statistics have been surprising. Researchers have looked at the students that come here already holding a post secondary qualification and Brazil is a very educated group.
Brazilians love to study.
Around 52% of Brazilians that come to Australia to study, already have a Bachelor, MBA, Masters or Doctorate qualification and are mainly aged between 21 and 30 years. Educated young minds are leaving Brazil to look for growth and further opportunities and they have listed Australia and Canada as their current preferred destinations to live and study. Australia’s ‘almost Brazilian’ weather and permission to work while studying, is giving Australia the edge over other options. Australia is also a safe option, with a very high standard of living, to add to other benefits.
