What is a fitness tracker and why do I need one?
A fitness tracker can be useful for anyone starting a fitness plan or wanting to see how they are currently doing movement wise, especially if you like a little bit of technology to help keep you accountable. They come in different sizes and price points. Do your research before buying one, so that it is suitable for your individual needs. Some are good at counting steps, but might not give you an accurate heart rate. Others are water proof and allow you to swim, where others can set work out challenges and store your statistics. Here are some reasons why you might spend the money on fitness trackers.
1. Set targets for your fitness
Fitness trackers can help you to set some fitness goals. Once those goals have been achieved, then you can increase them and aim higher. Calories burned, steps walked or even laps swum can be tracked and times supplied. Once you know how long it takes, you can push yourself harder to get a better time. This is a motivating way to be accountable for your movement and make sure that you are pushing yourself each time you head out.
2. Get competitive with yourself and others
People love a PB (personal best). Fitness trackers allow you to keep an eye on your current times for particular exercise and will allow you to see when you have achieved a good score. This will motivate you to work harder and keep beating your best time. Once you have mastered a particular activity, it might also push you to try something new.

If you work in an office or at a desk all day, then this function will help you to get your steps in. Fitness trackers will help you to maintain a well rounded life, which is great for your wellness and well-being.
