SELC Sports Activities
Australians love sport as much as any country and with our wide, open spaces and warm, sunny climate it is no wonder that sport makes up such a large part of our cultural identity.

There are lots of sporting activities for you to take part in.  Here are the main activities we offer but if there is anything else you would like to try e.g. scuba-diving, kayaking, bushwalking, skiing etc just ask and if we can’t organise it ourselves we will put you in contact with the people that can.

Football (Soccer)

SELC has been running regular matches as long as the school has been around. We play a friendly games most weeks and often organise matches against other English language schools at Queens Park, just near the school . It’s a great way to meet people from all over the world who share a common love of the beautiful game so come and get involved.

From September to May we play volleyball every Friday afternoon on Tamarama Beach.  It’s the perfect way to relax and enjoy the sunshine, sand and salt water after a week of study.  Tamarama is the next beach along the coast from Bondi and both are a short bus ride or 15 minute walk from SELC.

From September to May SELC regularly organises group surf trips for students.  There’s a one-day trip available for $69 which happens at a private beach in a national park and includes lunch and all transport and equipment or if you’re serious about learning to surf, there’s a weekend trip for $245 to beautiful beaches outside of Sydney, famous for being a great place to learn to surf, with all food, equipment and transport included.

Table Tennis

SELC Bondi has a table tennis table in our second floor student room which students can use everyday and we regularly organise competitions with prizes for the winners of the men’s and women’s competitions.

Many times throughout the year, SELC can organise skydiving trips with an experienced and renowned local company for $240 and $99 extra if you want your amazing experience filmed as a souvenir. This is the cheapest price you’ll find anywhere in Australia for a jump from this height!

For the keen squash or tennis players, we are always happy to organise a game on Friday afternoons if students are interested.  We usually play tennis at the picturesque Cooper Park Tennis Courts, set amongst the trees and only a 10 minute walk from SELC.
